My name is Keith Chan and i dedicate this devotional blog to build a closer relationship with Jesus. My aim is to meditate on His word and to be more Christ-like. As i post in this blog, for public or personal eyes, i pray that the Lord will bring my heart closer to him and give me a new burning passion to worship Him.
The song included on this blog really expresses God's ever-growing love for me and cause me to worship Him. I strongly suggest listening to it!

God's five purpose for my life [ #2 ]
2. You bring God glory by learning to love other people in God's family.
This second purpose is called Fellowship, and it is preparation for eternity where those who have accepted God's son, Jesus, will fellowship together forever.
When you commit your life to Jesus Christ, you become part of God's family. The life God intends for you to enjoy is more than just believing; it also includes belonging. Why? Because learning to love is one of the greatest lessons God wants you to learn on earth before taking you into eternity. St. John wrote, "Our love for each other proves that we have gone from death to life." and St. Paul said, "Accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified."
Your second great responsibility is to learn to love as God does, because God is love and he wants you to be like Him. That's why getting connected to a local church as your spiritual family is essential. You cannot fulfill God's second purpose for your life on your own. He made us to need each other. Jesus said it is the proof that we really know Him: "As i have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

My reflection: • Fellowship is preparation for eternity.
- Come to think about it, i fellowship with my cell mostly after service, and that itself is pretty rare also. Are we spending enough time together? Are we spending enough time together with others? Seems like i have the 'cant-be-bothered' attitude. Always using whatever spare time i have to satisfy my own desires (play games, watch TV, etc)
• Learning to love is one of the greatest lessons.
- Okay i have to admit i dont show love to those who dont love me first. I'm pretty afraid of rejections and disappointments and thats why i dont. I think i should make an effort to love first, not because i have to, but because it delights God.
• Accept each other just as Christ accepted you.
- Wah this one i am super guilty. I really have a grudge towards a handful of people in church. And i simply just hate something about them. Well i must be more Christ-like and from now i must be more sociable towards them. I'll start with a simple smile.
• God made us to need each other.
- Again another one i'm guilty. I always have the independent attitude towards how i do my work or i lead my life. I always want to depend on myself and not ask for help. My mindset was always 'if you want it done right, do it yourself'. Gotta get the lone-wolf mindset out of my head and start accepting help from people.
